The Alphabet

100 (title for now) is a dance, a duet between you and I, created whilst you're in Paris and I in London. I suggest we fill this private blog with videos of short movement motifs (really short) that act as alphabets in our dance vocab.

Eventually we will work from 100 of these motifs, string them together like a musical score - repeat them, change their intensities, reverse them, variate, speed up, slow down...

I imagine us singing. I imagine us rehearsing a sequence to music, intensely so we perform uncannily together, uncannily choreographed, two as one, two as two, always knowing, even when blind. The rhythm is embedded in our bodies from rehearsing fiercely to a soundtrack. One that perhaps the audience never hears in its entirety... except at chosen bits when we sing.

So as you can see, I have suggested some headings to respond to - ultimately it culminates, but what would be nice is to have a (blue sky thinking here) 25 alphabet movement vocab responding directly to each heading at the end.... I want us to film ourselves performing the short motifs and upload them onto this treasure chest. As many as we think.... we can edit later.

100 ways:

a. TO SURVIVE
b. AS A WOMAN
c. IN A CITY
d. THAT YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE YOUR HOME

There's also a page for general inspiration. Which is this one. Here, we add sounds, words, stories, music that we associate with the stimuli.

May the playing begin.
